What is Sister2Sister Exchange Program?

Who organizes Sister2Sister?

The program is implemented by American University in partnership with iEARN U.S. and Society for International Education (SIE) in Pakistan. It is supported by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Is there any cost to participate?

No! The Sister2Sister program is fully funded. Selected participants receive scholarships covering tuition, accommodation, travel, and other program-related expenses. There is no application fee.

How long is the program?

The program duration varies by component. The main exchange component typically lasts 3-5 weeks, while preparatory activities and follow-up projects extend throughout the year.

Eligibility Questions

Who can apply?

Do I need to know English?

Yes, proficiency in English (both spoken and written) is required. You should be comfortable communicating in English as the program activities are conducted in English.

Can graduate students apply?

Do I need a passport to apply?

You do not need a passport to apply, but you will need to obtain one if selected. The program provides guidance on passport and visa processes for selected participants.

When will I hear back after applying?

The selection process takes 2-3 months. Initial screening results are typically announced 3-4 weeks after the deadline. Shortlisted candidates are invited for interviews, with final selections announced 6-8 weeks after interviews.

Can I apply again if not selected?

Yes! If you still meet eligibility criteria, you are welcome to reapply in future cycles. Many successful participants were selected on their second or third application.
